MAKOMA EXPEDITIONS

Our Safaris

The difference between a good safari and an exceptional one is the guide.

That is what Makoma is built around, guiding of a standard set by twenty-two years experience across Tanzania's most highly regarded national parks. You have the same guide beside you from the first morning to the last. Every trip is private, shaped around when you travel and what you want to see.

The three examples below are starting points rather than fixed packages, and any can finish on the Zanzibar coast.

Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater on either side of three nights in the central Serengeti. Seronera holds water year-round, so the resident lion, leopard and cheetah stay when the migration has moved on, which is what makes this trip work in any month.

The Calving Season

Built around the calving on the southern short-grass plains, January to March, where the herds gather in their hundreds of thousands and the predators work the edges. Three nights at Ndutu, which is a different place from Seronera and peaks at a different time, so the trip is timed around exactly this.

The Western Corridor

Through the middle of the year the migration moves west into the corridor between the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers. Time with the herds in the corridor, the central Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater completing the trip.

Any safari can end with a few nights on Zanzibar. Tell us roughly what you have in mind and we'll build it into the trip
